JOB SUMMARY:
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all patients, staff, visitors and property across the hospital and clinic facilities during both day and night shifts. This role involves regular monitoring of the premises, responding promptly to incidents and supporting a safe and welcoming environment.
The Security Officer may also assist other departments with duties such as housekeeping, patient transport or basic facility maintenance during periods of low security activity. This position requires strong observational skills, sound judgment and the ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine patrols of hospital and clinic buildings, parking areas and surrounding grounds

Monitoring security systems, alarms and surveillance equipment to identify and respond to potential threats

Assisting with the de-escalation of disruptive situations and ensuring the safety of patients, staff and visitors

Responding to emergencies, including medical calls, alarms and incidents involving patient or staff safety

Completing clear and detailed incident reports and maintaining accurate documentation of security activities

Enforcing facility policies related to safety, conduct and restricted access

Assisting with non-security tasks such as patient transport, minor facility maintenance and housekeeping support when appropriate
- Providing support for emergency preparedness drills and protocols

Security Officer - Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age

Current DPSST Private Security Certification through the State of Oregon, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire

Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, visitors and the general public

Strong observational skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience in security, public safety, law enforcement or a healthcare setting is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations
- Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
