JOB SUMMARY:

The Radiology Technologist is a key member of the imaging team, responsible for performing high-quality radiologic procedures to assist physicians in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. This role involves operating radiologic equipment, preparing exam rooms, positioning patients safely and correctly and capturing diagnostic images in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols.

The Radiology Technologist ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies. Attention to detail, strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential in this role.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing diagnostic imaging procedures using approved techniques and equipment
  • Preparing and maintaining equipment and exam rooms for each procedure
  • Accurately positioning patients and ensuring appropriate shielding to minimize radiation exposure
  • Following physician orders and protocols to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
  • Monitoring patients during procedures and responding to any needs or concerns
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and entering exam data into the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Adhering to infection control, safety and radiation protection standards
  • Assisting with quality assurance activities and participating in ongoing departmental improvements
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families and members of the care team to ensure a positive imaging experience
  • Supporting the mission, vision and values of Wallowa Memorial Hospital through professionalism and excellence in care

Radiology Technologist - Job Description

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • 1+ year Radiology experience required
  • Computed Tomography (CT) licensure through OBMI preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • 1+ year Radiology experience required
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain licensure through the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI)
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning, radiation safety and imaging protocols
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment 
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to quality care and safety standards
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations
  • Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
