JOB SUMMARY:
Wallowa Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Surgical Services to lead and oversee all aspects of care within our Surgical Services Department.
This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across Surgery, Endoscopy, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Central Supply/Sterile Processing. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who excels in clinical practice, team development, strategic planning and cross-departmental collaboration.
The Director of Surgical Services works closely with physicians, staff and the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure alignment with hospital policies, performance goals and quality standards. This individual must be capable of functioning in various clinical capacities and is integral in promoting the mission, vision and values of WCHCD.
Responsibilities Include:

Providing leadership and direction for patient care in the surgical and procedural environment

Managing staff and daily operations in Surgery, Endoscopy, PACU and Central Supply/Sterile Processing

Collaborating with physicians and clinical leadership to address nursing concerns and ensure patient needs are met

Participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining performance improvement activities within the department

Developing and managing the departmental budget
- Actively functioning in the roles of Circulating RN, Scrub RN, PACU RN and in Central Supply/Sterile Processing

Assisting Materials Management with preparing and processing hospital supply orders as needed

Director of Surgical Services - Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required

Current Oregon RN license required
-
Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications required

Participation in quarterly code practice sessions required
- Minimum of three (3) years of surgical nursing experience required
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a clinical setting required
- AORN certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations
- Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
